I have long been fascinated by the fossilized resin in the yellow, blue and green Dominican amber, but it wasn’t until I married a Polish artist whose mother had been a Baltic amber dealer that I fell completely in love with the gemstone. Within each amber present I was given I saw not just it’s historic beauty, but the symbol of a woman I have come to love as a mother.
